The origin of the universe is relevant in our everyday lives because we are very much still a part of that moment. If space is ever-expanding, then everything is a part of that endless expansion. This is one of the aspects of time that he talks about, that time only moves forward, things naturally won’t revert back to the way they were. Though change as an aspect of time can be random and chaotic, time also requires repetition and consistency. We can always rely on having 24 hours in a day, 365 days in a year etc.. this reliability allows us to use time as a constant measurement while the chaos and impossibility of changing the past or of seeing the future categorize our perception of time and the universe.
